We introduced our Dinosaur unit by reading the book “Whatever happened to the Dinosaurs” by Bernard Most. We learned that dinosaurs are extinct. Ask your child to explain what extinct means. Our students shared some creative ideas about what they think could have happened to the dinosaurs. One student said “Maybe they dove underwater.” Another student said, “Maybe they thought the volcano was a pool and they jumped in and died.” Another student thought, “An asteroid hit the earth and killed all of them.” Soon, we will find out which of these theories is correct.

We have been doing lots of research about our favourite dinosaurs. We learned that some dinosaurs are herbivores and some are carnivores. Ask your child to explain the difference between them. See the pictures below to see some of the cool facts we learned.

We have been fortunate to have trickster theatre in our school this week. Our theatre experience has been centered around the book “If the Dinosaurs Came Back” by Bernard most. We have been exploring all of the creative ways Dinosaurs could help us if they were to come back from extinction. We have even had some dinosaurs come back and visit our school.

Check out the gigantic T-Rex we found in the library...
